Remembering and honoring our neighbors during the Homeless Persons’ Memorial Day Service
Advantage Health was proud to participate in the Homeless Memorial Service on December 21 at The Cathedral Church of St. Paul Detroit. For the first time, the service, was livestreamed due to safety precautions.
This annual event was last held live in 2019 and normally would bring in hundreds of local residents, to honor and pray for those homeless individuals who have died. After all, every person deserves the respect and dignity that comes with a final blessing. Many of those in attendance for the service in past years have been homeless themselves.
Advantage Health, partnering with other local charitable organizations, once again conducted a winter clothes and resource drive that will be distributed to homeless individuals through a variety of ways. This effort is more difficult than ever this year because of the pandemic and the fact that many shelters have limited capacity to prevent the spread of COVID.
As we head into 2022, let’s remember those homeless who are less fortunate and need our collective help and prayers with generous donations. Advantage Health will apply 100 percent of your monetary donation to purchase clothes and other resources to our community partners who service homeless populations. Over the years those partners have included:
- Beyond The Gates
- COTS
- Covenant House
- Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries
- Elmhurst Home Inc.
- Fort Street Presbyterian Church
- Mariner’s Inn
- Matrix Off The Streets
- Naomi’s Nest
- Open Door Rescue Mission Ministries
- Operation Get Down
- Phillip Mission House
- Salvation Army
