Welcome to the Advantage Health Centers website!
Advantage Health Centers/Detroit Health Care for the Homeless is a nonprofit agency committed to improving the health of the individuals and communities we serve.
Because Detroit does not have enough primary care physicians to serve its population, it is considered a medically underserved community. Advantage Health Centers helps meet this need by offering care to everyone regardless of insurance status or homelessness.
Medical care at Advantage is provided using a Family Medicine model. Our Family Practice physicians and Nurse Practitioners are experienced in caring for persons at all stages of life, and they facilitate the participation of each patient in decisions about their care.
Our three health centers provided medical, dental and social work services to all persons regardless of insurance status, but we do rely on patient fees and insurance payments (including Medicare and Medicaid) for a significant portion of our funding. Discounts are offered to self- paying patients based on household income, and we do not deny medical care because of an inability to pay. Confidential translator services are available to all patients. In 2006, Advantage began participation in a special project to improve care and health outcomes for our patients with diabetes. |
